Accademia and Florence Tour Itinerary

Get stuck into day of exploring everything the striking city of Florence has to offer with an early morning tour of art, landscapes, and masterpieces. We begin by making our way to two of the most dreamy sites that this historic city has to offer in the Piazzale Michelangelo and Fiesole.

Don’t forget to bring your camera – Piazzale Michelangelo offers quite possibly the best view of Florence found within the entire city. This bustling square is a hotspot for tourists and you’ll also find a variety of cafes, vendors and even a replica bronze statue of Michelangelo’s David here. Meanwhile, to get to Fiesole, we’ll make our way to the edge of Florence and climb up into the picturesque hills. From the vantage point provided by this charming village, you can admire the views that include the whole city and the wonderful landscape beyond.

Throughout our Florence City Tour, you’ll have a professional guide providing the backstories behind many of these magnificent settings. From these lookouts, you’ll be able to spot the city’s most famous sights, including Brunelleschi’s Cupola, the Palazzo Vecchio and a wealth of Romanesque-style churches.

As our busy morning continues, we’ll return to the city streets and make our way to the celebrated Accademia Gallery. You’ll find many of Michelangelo’s most renowned works here including the world-famous statue ‘David’. In addition, the gallery is also home to several of his unfinished works such as ‘Prigioni’, and ‘San Matteo’.

One of Italy’s most famous figures, your guide will recount stories about Michelangelo’s life, providing wonderful insight into his personality and why his work, in particular, has become associated with Italy and the city of Florence.

As our tour comes to a conclusion, we’ll find our way through the bustling city streets, eventually arriving at the Piazza Duomo. Learn about the incredible story behind Giotto’s Bell Tower, one of the piazza’s four principal monuments, and discover the lavish Florence Baptistery, which features bronze and golden doors.

Simply put, Florence is a city that thrives with amazing food, history, and culture. And this tour of Florence’s most famous sites will have you appreciating why it’s one of Italy’s most-loved cities.
